As much as much as the manhwa solo leveling deserves some kind of success^^ the story, settings and the universe is nor original nor detailed. I've read the korean novel of solo leveling ( I alone level-up) from start to finish and it's absolute tr*sh like the writing of most LNs, there's no style and it's not worth your time, only the manhwa is.
This manhwa however seems to want to get a part of the success of the former and just rushes by copying every setting from other popular manhwa ( like Tower of God, the gamer or the artstyle of solo leveling). It's decent but it lacks soul and style and the start was failed but it gets better afterwards oddly enough;
As I said previously, the setting of solo leveling is not original at all and the novel is garb***, only the manhwa brought it to a decent level because with the format of a manhwa, the graphical style adds to a bare story telling from the LN, which lacked 'style' (literature concept). The fans also are overhyping this kind of manhwa and think this is brand new while manga in the 90s or early 2000 did have much more complex settings than the one from solo leveling. Also Stop always comparing comics to solo leveling though, the ones that are copying solo leveling are brand new korean novels and manhwa from Korea, mangakas don't give two s**ts about solo leveling so keep that in mind.
A lot of people also seem to bash on some manhwa too saying it is copying SL while the former is often an adaptation from a korean novel that goes way back, way before the solo leveling novel or the gate/isekai/hunter hype train.
If you want to enjoy something and onc you're done forget it, this manhwa is for you, in more than one aspect it feels more liberating and free than SL which tends to be very enclosed and lacks the freedom of adventure or real social interactions.
